Due to recent interpretations of state Medi-Cal rulings, FQHC and health plan regulations, we are now able to re-open our Podiatry clinics to patients with Medi-Cal, Basic Health Care and the Health Care Initiative (expanded BHC). This is great news for our patients.
Starting April 15, 2011, patients who meet pre-specified medical indications can be seen by a podiatrist, within one of our health centers only, who can bill for their services.
Clinical criteria will be:
Diabetes with neuropathy
Foot ulcers
Arterial vascular disease
Patients included will be all under the CCHP umbrella including BHC (AO, GO, HO).
Straight Medi-Cal will not be included, but most of this population is gradually being phased into CCHP over the next fifteen months. Patients with straight Medi-Cal can elect to assign their Medi-Cal to CCHP and thus become eligible for this benefit.
The specialty access unit of appt. unit will screen all referrals made after April 15 for above clinical criteria and schedule appt. if criteria met.
Patients in these financial coverage categories who were referred before April 15 will need a new referral.
Please specify clearly on your MR-191 referral the clinical criteria that make the patient eligible for Podiatry clinic.
Over the Counter Orthotics:
1) Spenco -
Soft green cushion on top with hard black plastic bottom
Del cojín verde y suave encima y con el fondo de plástico negro y duro
2) Superfeet -
Green - great for walking, running shoes and hiking boots.
Blue - great for casual shoes and soccer shoes
Also come in different other styles for different shoe types. Ask salesperson.
Verde - mejor para caminar, para los zapatos deportivos y botas
Azul - mejor para zapatos de fútbol
Tambíen hay otros tipos diferentes para zapatos de cada estilo.
